Love Music
Chapel Of Love: Jeff Barry & Friends (Full Frame) Jeff Barry, one of the most successful popular songwriters of the century, who along with Ellie Greenwich and Phil Spector, wrote many chart-topping hits, recently invited some of his favorite performs to star in a concert taped in Santa Barbara, California, for public television and now available on home video. The special band assembled by Jeff for the night presented the classics with new, fresh flavor, bringing updated arrangements conducted by Jeff. The show features songs "Chapel of Love" performed by The Dixie Cups, "Da Doo Ron Ron" and "Then he Kissed Me" as sung by The Crystals, and "River Deep Mountain High" belted out by Mary Wilson of the Supremes. Amazing musical moments, with Brian Wilson singing his self-professed absolute favorite song, "Be My Baby," and Ronnie Spector giving a special charge to "I Can Hear Music," are joined by a heartwrenching "The Last Time I Made Love" by Jeffrey Osborne and Deniece Williams, Deniece's soulful rendition of "Honestly Love You," and Andy Kim's moving performance of "Baby I Love You." Ray Peterson's performance of "Tell Laura I Love Her" takes us back to a simpler time, and Ron Dante (of the Archies) performing "Sugar Sugar" and "Hanky Panky" makes us smile. The artists and Jeff also talk about the music, giving new insights into the writing and production of these classic songs. "Chapel Of Love" captures all of these, and other, special moments in this once-in-a-lifetime event.
Best Picture Oscar Collection: Musical "Best Picture Oscar Collection - Musical 5-Pack" contains "An American In Paris," "Broadway Melody Of 1929," "Gigi," "Great Ziefeld," "My Fair Lady: Special Editon." "An American In Paris" - 'S wonderful, 's marvelous: Gene Kelly, producer Arthur Freed, director Vincente Minnelli and an ace creative team conjure sheer screen magic, one of the American Film Institute's Top-100 American Films. Kelly plays an ex-GI who loves Paris and loves even more an alluring (but engaged) perfume-shop clerk (Leslie Caron in her beguiling screen debut). Dance sequences spun around Gershwin songs accent Kelly's romantic pursuit. And the final 17-minute ballet - combining the title symphony, Impressionist set stylings and Kelly's unique talent for telling a story in dance - lifts this winner of six Academy Awards including Best picture into the ether of timelessness. "Love Is Here To Stay," Kelly sings. So is "An American In Paris." "Broadway Melody Of 1929" - This is the first musical to win a Best Picture Oscar(R) and often considered the granddaddy of all MGM musicals. Anita Page and Bessie Love star as two sisters in love with the same man. "Gigi" - A home, a motorcar, servants, the latest fashions: the most eligible and most finicky bachelor (Louis Jourdan) in Paris offers them all to Gigi (Leslie Caron). But she, who's gone from girlish gawkishness to cultured glamour before our eyes, yearns for that wonderful something money can't buy. Producer Arthur Freed, director Vincente Minnelli and a cast rife with Gallic charm combine talents for this lavish winner of nine Academy Awards including Best Picture. Its Alan Jay Lerner/Frederick Loewe songs can sparkle like "The Night They Invented Champagne" or caress with title-tune tenderness. "I Remember It Will", man-about-town Maurice Chevalier sings to Hermione Gingold. Like love itself, "Gigi" is most memorable. "The Great Ziegfeld" - Flo Ziegfeld's midway attraction isn't drawing flies. "How's business, Ziggy?" a rival taunts.
